The Grid :
The Grid is one of the largest microbrewery opened in the heart of Kolkata at Topsia. Sprawled across a massive 10,000 sq. ft area, the place derives its name from its interior decor. Designed by design giant, Ayaz Basrai, the impressive decor of this kitchen and cafe cum brewery has given this old industrial building a chic and modern appeal. The owner, Mr Gaurav Karnani, has a long relationship with Craft beer and has gone to many places in search of good Craft beer. The lack of good beer in the city is what led him to open this in the first place. The place has been divided into many zones – The Lego Bar is on the right side of the entrance with miniature figures adorning the facade. On the bar, counter are community dining style tables with high rise chairs. The Cage is the most sought after area with the entire brewery and kitchen visible. The other areas are PDA, Asylum, Beer Garden, Grid X and a Smoking Zone. The highlight of this place is not only the finely crafted beer but also food which breaks from the monotonous grind.
Beer Republic :
It is the pioneer of Microbreweries in Kolkata located in Kankurgachi. One of the most laid-back places to chill out with friends over a classic craft beer, Beer republic is the place to be if you are on a budget. The place is not known for its decor as with other popular pubs in Kolkata, but this microbrewery is certainly one of the most affordable options when it comes to its food and beer. Some of the craft beers available here are Blonde Beer, a light-bodied speciality wheat ale; Amber Beer, a premium lager brewed using barley malts and hops; Brunette Beer, a full-bodied dark ale; and Republic Beer, a mix of European red malts and hops.
Country Roads :
Situated in Rajarhat, New town, this perfectly decorated microbrewery is a good haunt for Beer lovers who want to go a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The ambience will give you an old American feel with high rise chairs, semi lounge sitting and visible barrels with taps. The food is top notch with the starters being a speciality here. The blue and yellow lighting adds an appealing touch to the decor. The famous beer here is the Scottish Ale, German Weizen, Belgian Blonde. It also has a comprehensive drinks menu and non-beer lovers won’t complain.
The Brewmaster :
This is the latest addition to the list of new microbreweries in Kolkata with a very convenient location. Located in Sector 5, Salt Lake, the Brewmaster is a great pub with spacious interiors. Food and Craft beer are cheap are here in comparison to other breweries and the wooden dance floor with live DJ is an added extra. The service is good with finger licking food and the decor will give you an old world rustic charm feel.
Raize The Bar :
One of the finest microbrewery in Kolkata, located near College More, Sector 5, Salt Lake, this pub is also a gastropub with a variety of finest dishes available. The craft Beer is of high quality and they serve four types of beer amongst which Belgian and German variety are the best selling ones. The finger food is of good quality. The Live music playing retro hits and the dance floor is an added advantage. The rates are nominal and the service is really good. The bar area can team up to their European counterparts.
