A Talk with Durga Puja 2019 Photography Contest Winner – Sudipa Chakraborty

As you all must be aware by now that on the occasion of Durga Puja 2019, WeekendTrivia had collaborated with Ashlo Pujo and In_Kolkata to conduct a month-long photography contest. Our prizes were kindly sponsored by Zoomin. The winner of the contest was Sudipa Chakraborty and here we bring for you, an interview with Sudipa

Q. Congratulations!!! It must feel good to be a winner… Can you please give your introduction to our viewers?

A: Thanks Weekend Trivia. My name is Sudipa Chakraborty, a teacher by profession a photographer by passion.

My passion is to capture the people and culture of Bengal. In my last 5 years of photography journey, I have achieved many photographic distinctions and awards from the national and international levels.

Q. If you don’t know let us tell you we have posted interviews of famous photographers on our blog. How does it feel to be interviewed on the same platform with them?

A: Its a privilege for me to be interviewed in the same platform with many famous photographers, I can say one of my best achievement till now in my career..


Q. What is your favourite genre of photography and why?

A: As I live in West Bengal, and mother Bengal is a hub of culture and religions, I would like to capture various colors and rituals of Bengal festivals and Cultures.

Q. Which gear you use? For how long you are doing it?

A: I am using a mid range Nikon DSLR, Nikon D5200 with 18-55 lens.

Q. Do you want to take photography as your prime profession or is it already your profession?

A: I am happy with my profession as a teacher and photography gives me happiness so no plan to combine this happiness and profession in near future.

Q.  In the next five years where do you want to see yourself in photographic world?

A: I am not so ambitious in photography, as I have already mentioned it Gives me inner peace to click and showcase my motherland to the whole world, I just want to carry this out and let people decide where I can be after 5 years.

Q.  Whom do you admire the most in photography and why?

A: I always admire my family, without their support its impossible for a girl to roam around here and there.

Q.  What are/is your biggest achievement so far?

A: For me, every achievement is the same, I don’t want to mention any special one over here.


Q.  What do you want to say to the other budding photographers?

A: Hard Work. Yes buddies hard work which always pay you, just concentrate on your work and do it by your heart, I am sure no one can touch you.
