Getting to Know Watercolour artist – Aiswarya (@artogramer.ash)

Published by weekendtrivia on

It is said that Art is like poetry that enriches the soul, connects one to its deeper realizations and awakens the soul to a higher perspective. In the words of the master Leonardo Da Vinci, “A painter should begin every canvas with a wash of black because all things in nature are dark except where exposed by the light

With changing times, Art is not confined to canvas and oil painting only. We now have various forms and mediums of art and we feel that traditional or digital, every art piece is beautiful. The effort, love, and dedication that every artist puts in his or her work is something to be appreciated, valued, and treasured always. Instagram is a great platform where you can showcase your talents in any field, but especially in Art. Q. Please introduce yourself. (Where are you based from, family background etc.)

Hello, Everyone, my name is Aiswarya, you can call me  Ash . I am a self-taught artist from Kochi, Kerala. I don’t have any art background. Basically an MBA graduate who was part of corporate culture for few years. My family consists of my dad who works in a private firm and mom who is a house maker and my Grandmom who is my best friend.

Q. What made you start your art page? Please share what is your Instagram profile is all about and how did your journey start?

When I was a child my grand pa made me fell in love with painting and drawing. My art journey was on and off. Later in Dec 2018 I took a decision to focus my career on art and my journey started.

I always had an inner urge to do something which represents me and I was not able to fit in with normal jobs so I quit my job and I was not able to figure out what to do next. I started to paint my soul out and I accidentally came to Instagram and saw that there is amazing art community out there who appreciate and connect with people like me so I opened an art account on Dec 2018 and started posting regularly and by god’s grace I am still continuing my Journey

My Instagram profile is where I post my crazy experiments with different mediums, art styles

I love to paint night skies, moons, abstracts and galaxies as I paint mostly from my imagination which might be related to some photos of places I have seen. I do paint from references (mainly photographs) occasionally but I feel I don’t do justice with the photograph so I always end up painting from my imaginations.

I am an imperfectly perfect person so I love to paint whatever comes to my mind I don’t pre-plan or organize my thoughts before painting I just try to depict my mind.

I started a small venture named @selenophilash Instagram official page where I post a few artworks, calendars for sale.

Q. Is being an artist your full-time profession or do you work elsewhere? Is it possible to make out a sustainable career out of art in today’s world?

I was working but then I quit my job and now I am a full time artist who is travelling in the path of experimenting, experiencing and learning. Yes compared to few years back artist has more scope and opportunities but you should be ready to face hardship as well.

Q. What would you consider your biggest achievement so far?

I think my determination to improve on daily basis and my self-competing nature is my biggest achievement and to get such a supportive parents who helped me to make my own dream come to true. So I am really proud of them.

Q. What is your signature style of art that represents you as an artist? What does your work aim to say? Do you address current world scenarios through your work?

My art revolves around mostly on moon and abstracts. I am a hard core Selenophile there a lot of reason to love moon here are few of them

  1. The beauty of moon glow can be captured through the naked eye, unlike sun lover who needs a sunglass to look at it 😛
  2. The moon is connected with the emotional body, what brings us joy and fulfilment and I love to spread happiness
  3. Feels more connected to moon than any other elements
  4. It represents light in the darkness

Let me conclude with these 4 for now I could go on and on but basically my art gives a great pleasure and happiness.

I Love abstracts because it is not constrained with rules or boundaries it doesn’t need perfect shapes or colors we can explore so many varieties and color combination.

My art focus on mainly my freedom of expressions and thoughts and proud to make mistakes

Q. What is your favourite medium to work upon? And your favourite work tools?

I love watercolors and acrylics , for acrylics I love sponges.

Q. When you start a new piece of art, how do you get the inspiration/motivation it? How long does it take approximately to finish one piece of art?

I just paint my soul out I sit in front of a paper or canvas and I look at the colors and I just paint. Sometimes it takes few minutes to finish sometime it takes days. No particular time durations.

Q. Who are your biggest influences?

Everything and anything motivates me to paint (but I am more attracted to landscapes than portraits )

Q. How do you manage your family life along with other commitments and running a page?

It’s never a burden for me as I enjoy what I do and I do in my own terms which I feel makes it more fun.I always try to balance my life

Q. What are the biggest challenges that you face as an artist? Is creative block a common problem?

My biggest challenge as I paint from imagination it’s hard for me to move forward with some works I get stuck thinking what to do next.

If you want to sell/merchandise any products or artworks getting the right crowd is very difficult especially online.

Creative art blocks are very common that would be my vacation time I enjoy it by not been bothered about it and just enjoy.

Q. Which current art world trends are you following, if any?

I love art in all sense I love to see others works I follow many artist. To be honest I am a spontaneous girl I don’t follow any particular trend I just go with flow and enjoy everything

Q. Apart from being an artist, what are your hobbies?

Travelling, Photography , Hanging out Friends (which I randomly do these days) , Watching TV Series etc

Q. Please share your experience with different brands/projects you have worked with?

It is always great to work with brands, they sent you goodies to try them and with each brand projects, I learned new things. Some projects are very organized and have a proper structure which helps to meet their expectations but some are unorganized which helps to experiment in different ways so both teach you very valuable lessons. I am forever grateful to all those people who choose me to represent their brands it meant a lot.

Q. There are a lot of shoddy people on social media who either try to discredit others or stalk them. How do you deal with such people or negativity in general? Does it bog you down or affect your mental peace?

I feel sad when I see other artists become the victim. Mostly commonly posting your work as their own without even mentioning the original name. Not crediting the original artist. It does affect me when other people get hurt. I can cope up with my injustice as I let go things and move on I don’t feel grudges which makes me less bothered.

Q. Would you like to give a word of advice to all the budding artists who are trying to make their mark through their art?

Keep practicing, exploring different medium and styles, never give up.

Please credit the original artist while taking their reference and work.

Q. What are your future plans for your page and profile? Are you happy with the way it has shaped up?

I have a few exciting things coming up so you have to visit my profile to find it out.

I am super happy and overwhelmed by the way my profile has shaped up I really couldn’t believe that my family has grown so much. Thank you so much for all your support guys

Q. Lastly, any word for our blog? Thank you for your time!

You provide a great platform for people to come forward and introduce them to a larger audience. It is such a great opportunity to do this small session with you guys I loved answering all the questions.

What you are doing is really awesome, Keep them coming
