Q: Congratulations for becoming the photographer of the month, how does it feel?
It feels absolutely amazing to be a photographer of the month of your group. These appreciation helps me to work better.
Q. Would you kindly introduce yourself to our reader? What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My name is Ashok Sikri based in Rishikesh,UK,India. A business by profession & a passionate nature lover by heart. If i make someone fall in love with Nature that will be always a great achievement for me.
Q. Is it important to have any professional training to be a photographer? Did you have any at the time you set of your journey?
No, its not important to have a professional training to be a photographer, one can learn it only by experiencing it on field. But its always good to follow & get inspired from others work. Also, if someone wants fast learning then he/she should go on field with the person who is already a master in that. It allows us faster & better learning.
Q: When you go in one of your photo-shoot which one is your favorite lens and why do you prefer it?
I have nothing like a favorite lens, it depends on various factors or on field conditions that which lens i am going to choose for clicking something.
Q. How do you as a photographer make sure that the thing, person or landscape you want to shoot looks the way you want it to?
Pre-visualisation with quick decision making is the thing which helps me to work as a photographer. It only comes by our field experiences & with the period of time one can achieve it very easily.
Q. What would you think make a picture stand out in such huge group?
If you will present something new & artistic work anywhere it will definitely catch up everyone’s attention.
Q. A “Good Camera can make a Picture perfect” do you believe this myth?
Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not.
Don’t forget, a good camera will make good images only if the photographer is worth making one. Though, there are many things that can be shoot by a normal camera too. Everything depends on a various factors.
Q: How important is to know a place before you go out for shoot? What are the challenges that faced so far?
This is the most important part in photography to have the knowledge of the place we are going to. That will helps us making best work out from the place because we make ourself ready for those conditions/challenges that are going to come at that place.
Q: In a picture is “Digital manipulation” really require to make it perfect?
No, digital manipulation is not required & I don’t appreciate that.
If you will shoot perfect pictures on field then you really don’t need to do much in digital post processing. We should focus on getting best pictures on field & we should not depends on digital manipulation.
Q: Which post processing software you use for your pictures?
I use Lightroom.
Q: Nowadays almost everyone has access to devices with which it is possible to take pictures. What do you think is the difference between a professional photographer and any other amateur photographer?
Professional photographers knows how to make a living out of their work, Where as an amateur doesn’t.
Every professional was once a amateur. The day he/she start making a living out of it regularly he becomes professional. Sometimes even a professional photographers use basic camera bodies & lenses for there work. Where as sometimes a amateur photographer having a top class camera can’t able to make good images so it depends on various factors.
Q: Any suggestions to your fellow members how could they improve and become a POM too?
There is the huge difference between getting inspired & copying someone’s work. I suggest everyone to get inspired from others & do something different from everyone that is the only thing which makes you stand out. DONT COPY.
